Volunteers
Credit unions are unique, not-for-profit, cooperative financial institutions owned by their members and guided by volunteers. As a not-for-profit organization, volunteers play important roles in our success. Therefore, Kaua‘i Federal Credit Union is always looking for dedicated volunteers from within our membership to help serve in a variety of volunteer capacities.

Volunteer Opportunities Overview
Active, enthusiastic volunteers are needed to maintain a healthy, progressive credit union. Volunteers serve without monetary compensation.
Intangible benefits include:

- playing an important role in maintaining vital competition in the financial services marketplace
- nurturing the credit union philosophy of “people helping people”
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors meets monthly and consists of volunteers who oversee that all credit union policies are followed, establish and monitor the credit union’s strategic plan and ensure that the credit union operates safely and securely. The Board of Directors’ role is to be accountable for the credit union’s actions and to ensure the long-term security and viability of the credit union by making decisions in the best interest of the credit union and the entire membership.
PR Committee Overview
The PR Committee meets quarterly and supports the credit union’s efforts to encourage education and community outreach. Activities include the Annual Membership Meeting, Annual Scholarship Program, Youth Month, Farm Bureau Fair, International Credit Union Day, and other community activities.
Supervisory Committee Overview
The Supervisory Committee meets monthly and ensures the financial well-being of the credit union. In addition, the Supervisory Committee ensures the effectiveness of internal checks and balances, adherence to established policies and procedures, and the overall safety and soundness of credit union operations.

To be a credit union volunteer requires integrity, a commitment of time, a willingness to learn, the discipline to carry out specific duties, and a desire to serve. Some basic expectations of a credit union volunteer are:
